Predicted Winners in BOLD

(PR) Julien Benneteau VS (10) David Ferrer – I think Ferrer is the favorite, but I wonder if Ferrer is running out of steam.

Pablo Cuevas VS Sam Querrey – I am not 100% sure about Sam, but the crowds in Cincy tend to receive him well.  He also had a strong Wimbledon.

(14) Nick Kyrgios VS Lucas Pouille – Can Kyrgios build on his win in Atlanta?  I think at least through one round in Cincinnati.

Viktor Troicki VS (12) Marin Cilic -So long as Cilic is not still smarting about close Rio or Wimbledon losses, he should win this match.

Gilles Simon VS Grigor Dimitrov – This is a hell of a match, but I think Simon wins due to superior consistency.  Simon will want to reverse their Wimbledon result.

(WC) Jared Donaldson VS Nicolas Almagro – Almagro has enough firepower to win this match despite having been pretty much a non-factor in 2016.

Alexandr Dolgopolov VS Kevin Anderson – I think superior tactical discipline will lead to an Anderson win.

(WC) Reilly Opelka VS Jeremy Chardy – Chardy has a nice serve and forehand combination.  It ought to be enough for Chardy to advance.
