Predicted Winners in BOLD

[2] Angelique Kerber (GER) vs [7] Roberta Vinci (ITA) – Kerber should end Vinci’s latest US Open run.  Vinci has a lot of variety, a great slice backhand that produces patterns most players don’t like, and an ability to finish points at the net.  Still, Kerber has great defensive skills and can go from defense to offense quickly.  So long as Kerber is hustling and not drowning in errors, Kerber can grind Vinci down.  Vinci’s variety and tenacity can win this match, but if Kerber is what she has been of late, Kerber should win.

Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) vs. Anastasija Sevastova (LAT) –  Wozniacki is seemingly back from the brink.  I have been skeptical of her play prior to the last round or so, but I think she reaches the final four.
