Predicted Winners in BOLD
I don’t think Ferrer is the same player he was in 2013
(1) Andy Murray VS (5) David Ferrer – Ferrer reaching this round is a nice rebound for him in what has been a less than ideal 2016. Ferrer has had some successes against Andy Murray, particularly on clay, but Andy should win in 2 fairly routine sets at this stage of each man’s career.
(3) Milos Raonic VS Grigor Dimitrov – I am going to go with the hot hand here. Dimitrov should be sky high after getting his first ever win over Rafael Nadal in a one-sided match. Milos is the more steady player, but his vanilla play versus Murray at Cincinnati make me think he lacks some of the higher gears he will need to truly climb to the top of men’s tennis. Dimitrov has the much lower floor, but he might have a slightly higher ceiling. So long as Dimitrov is not in the midst of a big match letdown, I will predict a tight 3 set upset.
