Predicted Winners in BOLD

Stadium (1 p.m. start)

[3] Stan Wawrinka (SUI) vs. [Q] Kyle Edmund (GBR) H2H – I like Stan to win this match, but not nearly as much as I would favor him in a 3 of 5 set match.

Gilles Simon (FRA) vs. [WC] Di Wu (CHN) H2H – Simon may be nearing the end of his reserves, but he is still a tough out in most events.

[4] Rafael Nadal (ESP) vs. Viktor Troicki (SRB) H2H – Rafa needs some good momentum heading into 2017.

[2] Andy Murray (GBR) vs. Steve Johnson (USA) H2H – They had an interesting match in Rio, but I don’t think Johnson will make it nearly as close this time.

Union Pay

[7] Tomas Berdych (CZE) vs. Marcel Granollers (ESP) H2H – This is probably a bad pick on this surface, but Granollers is a tough opponent at this stage of the event.

[5] Milos Raonic (CAN) vs. Paolo Lorenzi (ITA) H2H – I am not sure I understand Milos’ injury withdrawal from Beijing on Saturday and playing on Wednesday, but barring injury he should advance.

Grigor Dimitrov (BUL) vs. Vasek Pospisil (CAN) – Grigor got some needed wins and 300 ranking points last week.  I expect he picks up a win here.

[15] Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP) vs. [Q] Taylor Fritz (USA) H2H – I love RBA, but I think this is a bit of a trap match for him.  Fritz may hit big often enough to pull a minor upset.

Grandstand

[11] David Goffin (BEL) vs. Benoit Paire (FRA) H2H – Have I gone upset crazy?

Jack Sock (USA) vs. Feliciano Lopez (ESP) H2H – Lopez will have to take care of his serve and be opportunistic when returning, but that is his game.

[12] Nick Kyrgios (AUS) vs. [Q] Mischa Zverev (GER) H2H – Kyrgios has momentum.

[13] Lucas Pouille (FRA) vs. Nicolas Almagro (ESP) H2H – Pouille seems like a player to watch over the next 24 months.
