Australian Open 2017: January 20th Men’s Singles Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

[4] Stan Wawrinka (SUI) vs [29] Viktor Troicki (SRB) – Stan seems to be in good form and that is bad news for Viktor.

[10] Tomas Berdych (CZE) vs [17] Roger Federer (SUI) – Can Roger dig in and send a message to the draw?  I will split the difference and say Federer wins but questions remain.

MARGARET COURT ARENA

[12] Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA) vs. [23] Jack Sock (USA) – Sock has a lot of momentum and Tsonga is not always healthy.  Still, Tsonga is the more likely to win until Sock starts beating top 15 players with some regularity.

[5] Kei Nishikori (JPN) vs Lukas Lacko (SVK)

HISENSE ARENA (11:30 a.m. start)

[1] Andy Murray (GBR) vs. [31] Sam Querrey (USA) – I don’t think Sam Querrey will pull off his second massive upset of a #1 seed in the past 52 weeks.

[27] Bernard Tomic (AUS) vs. Daniel Evans (GBR) –  Evans opened a more plausible path into the quarters for Tomic.  I think Tomic gets to the round of 16 in 4 sets.

SHOW COURT 2

Mischa Zverev (GER) vs. Malek Jaziri (TUN) – Take cover

SHOW COURT 3

Steve Darcis (BEL) vs. Andreas Seppi (ITA) – Prego
