[7] Garbiñe Muguruza (ESP) vs. Kirsten Flipkens (BEL) – Muguruza does not seem to have shaken off her French Open hangover yet.
[3] Karolina Pliskova (CZE) vs. Monica Puig (PUR) – Puig is certainly capable of winning this match, but Pliskova has been playing top notch tennis for 6 or 7 months in a row whereas Puig had a great run in Rio. Odds favor Pliskova playing better in this match.
[32] Mirjana Lucic-Baroni (CRO) vs. (WC) Kayla Day (USA) – The veteran’s story is not done in my view.
[5] Dominika Cibulkova (SVK) vs. Jelena Ostapenko (LAT) – This could be interesting for some time, but I think Cibulkova wins in 2 or 3 sets.
