[21] Pablo Carreno Busta (ESP) vs. [27] Pablo Cuevas (URU) H2H – Cuevas is riding high at the moment. I think this is a manageable upset on paper and based upon recent from it is not an upset at all.
[3] Stan Wawrinka (SUI) vs. [8] Dominic Thiem (AUT) – The one-handed backhand is having a great year. 3 of the 4 Australian Open semifinalists use a one-handed backhand. Roger Federer, Grigor Dimitrov, and Dominic Thiem have claimed titles. Stan Wawrinka benefitted most from Andy Murray’s loss and the overloaded bottom half of the draw. I could see this going to 7-6 in the 3rd set yet again. Still, I think Wawrinka survives and advances. I also think Wawrinka will be very hard to stop if he reaches the final.
