Miami Open 2017: March 24th WTA Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Stadium (11 a.m. start)

[3] Simona Halep (ROU) vs. Naomi Osaka (JPN) – Halep’s post Rogers Cup results have not been great.  This could be a good place to turn around recent trends.

[1] Angelique Kerber (GER) vs. Ying-Ying Duan (CHN) –  Kerber should win, but I am not seeing the resolve and confidence from her that I saw from Wimbledon through the end of 2016.

[11] Venus Williams (USA) vs. [WC] Beatriz Haddad Maia (BRA) –  Miami is a home for Venus.

Grandstand

[8] Madison Keys (USA) vs. Viktorija Golubic (SUI) – Keys should win.

Court 1

[10] Johanna Konta (GBR) vs. [Q] Aliaksandra Sasnovich (BLR) – Konta is a reliable player in matches like this.

[16]
Kiki Bertens (NED) vs. [Q] Risa Ozaki (JPN)

Court 2

[7] Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) vs. Mandy Minella (LUX) – Kuzy had a great Miami last year and is coming off an Indian Wells runner-up finish.

[22] Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) vs. [Q] Patricia Maria Tig (ROU) – Carry-over momentum from Indian Wells

Court 7

[25] Roberta Vinci (ITA) vs. [Q] Taylor Townsend (USA) – A mild upset

[14]
Samantha Stosur (AUS) vs. [WC] Ashleigh Barty (AUS) – Aussie showdown

Court 8

[28] Irina-Camelia Begu (ROU) vs. Lara Arruabarrena (ESP) – Begu should win.

[21] Caroline Garcia (FRA) vs. Shuai Peng (CHN) – I was back and forth on this match.  I can see either player winning.

Court 9

[24] Timea Babos (HUN) vs. Pauline Parmentier (FRA) – Another upset?

[32] Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) vs. [Q] Anett Kontaveit (EST) – I like Makarova’s game.

[20] Carla Suárez Navarro (ESP) vs. Julia Goerges (GER) – This could go either way.

[31]  Daria Kasatkina (RUS) vs. Shelby Rogers (USA) – Rogers could pull an upset, but she is not the favorite.
