Monte Carlo 2017: April 18th Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

COURT RAINIER III (11 a.m. start)

[11] Lucas Pouille (FRA) vs. Ryan Harrison (USA) H2H – The surface likely favors Pouille even if his 2017 has not been sparkling to this point.

[7] Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA) vs. [Q] Adrian Mannarino (FRA) H2H – Tsonga has had some big wins in 2017.

[2] Novak Djokovic (SRB) vs. Gilles Simon (FRA) H2H – This can be a tricky match if Simon starts eliciting errors from Djokovic.  Still, Djokovic is the clear favorite.

[10] David Goffin (BEL) vs. Nicolas Almagro (ESP) H2H – This is closer to a 50-50 match than Goffin would like it to be.

COURT DES PRINCES

Gilles Muller (LUX) vs. [PR] Tommy Robredo (ESP) H2H – On clay, I like Robredo in this match-up.

Benoit Paire (FRA) vs. [PR] Tommy Haas (GER) H2H – I’d love to take two protected rankings in a row, but I don’t think it happens.

[WC] Borna Coric (CRO) vs. [WC] Jeremy Chardy (FRA) H2H – Coric has some momentum and good feelings.  Chardy is dangerous if he can dictate play, but I think Coric clips him.

[16] Pablo Cuevas (URU) vs. Joao Sousa (POR) H2H – Match of the day?

COURT 2

[Q] Jan-Lennard Struff (GER) vs. [WC] Casper Ruud (NOR) H2H

Karen Khachanov (RUS) vs. Nicolas Mahut (FRA)  H2H – I have a soft spot for Mahut.

Feliciano Lopez (ESP) vs. Daniil Medvedev (RUS) H2H

COURT 9

Paolo Lorenzi (ITA) vs. Marcel Granollers (ESP) H2H

Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER) vs. [Q] Carlos Berlocq (ARG) H2H – This should be a fun match.

COURT 11

Federico Delbonis (ARG) vs. Robin Haase (NED) H2H

Mischa Zverev (GER) vs. Jiri Vesely (CZE) H2H
