French Open 2017: June 5th Men’s Singles Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Andy Murray (GBR) [1] vs. Karen Khachanov (RUS) – Murray should win, but I think he’d prefer to be playing Isner.

Stan Wawrinka (SUI) [3] vs. Gael Monfils (FRA) [15] – Match of the Day in my view

Fernando Verdasco (ESP) vs. Kei Nishikori (JPN) [8] – If Nishikori can’t stay on top of the baseline and control the points, I think Verdasco wins.  Verdasco’s lefty forehand will make Nishikori’s baseline hugging harder than if Verdasco were right handed.

Kevin Anderson (RSA) vs. Marin Cilic (CRO) [7] – Anderson has made a nice return to the higher echelons of tennis after a injury filled 2016.  Cilic has been playing some impressive tennis in Paris.  Cilic is likely the better of the two on clay so I think Cilic advances.
