Sloane Stephens claims a major title and made a major statment with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Madison Keys in the US Open final.  Winning a major as an unseeded player coming back from an injury is a great storyline.  So too is Stephens being able to trumph from a semifinal featuring 4 US born players.  Keys’ error total was 24 higher than that of Stephens and this likely doomed her chances in her first major final.  Congratulations to Sloane Stephens the 2017 US Open champion!
