Predicted Winners in BOLD

Gilles Simon (FRA) vs. [WC] Ernests Gulbis (LAT) – Simon is the more steady of the two, but both can kind of lull an opponent into an odd mental state.  This should be interesting if nothing else.

Richard Gasquet (FRA) vs. Feliciano Lopez (ESP) – On an indoor hard court, I think Lopez could serve well enough to win.

[5] John Isner (USA) vs. Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER) – Isner has won all 4 of their matches not played at the US Open.  Kohlschreiber has won all 3 of their matches played at the US Open.  Isner has demonstrated solid form in recent events, but I think his game is one dimensional enough that Kohlschreiber can win this match if he is prepared to grab a few return points in the inevitible tie-break sets that will occur.

[1] Alexander Zverev (GER) vs. Viktor Troicki (SRB) – Zverev is supposed to be the next big thing.  This seems like a winnable event to add momentum to his 2017 campaign.

Bernard Tomic (AUS) vs. [Q] Pierre-Hugues Herbert (FRA) – Herbert should be match tough from qualifying.  That might be enough for him to spring an upset.
