Masters Miami 2018: Men’s Singles Predictions for March 22nd

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Stadium (11 a.m. start)

Leonardo Mayer (ARG) vs. Donald Young (USA) – I wrestled with this prediction.  Mayer should love the slow conditions.  Young is always tough on US soil.

Frances Tiafoe (USA) vs. Nicolas Kicker (ARG) – Tiafoe was #11 in my recent power ranking.

Grandstand

Denis Shapovalov (CAN) vs. Viktor Troicki (SRB) – Can the talented young Canadian fend off a rock-solid veteran?

Tennys Sandgren (USA) vs. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez (ESP) – Sandgren had an improbable run in Australia, but I am not expecting many sequels.

Steve Johnson (USA) vs. Victor Estrella Burgos (DOM)

Denis Istomin (UZB) vs. [WC] Miomir Kecmanovic (SRB)

Court 1

[Q] Alex de Minaur (AUS) vs. [PR] Yoshihito Nishioka (JPN)

Stefanos Tsitsipas (GRE) vs. Daniil Medvedev (RUS) – Medved means bear in Russian if my one year of Russian serves me well.  I think the Russian Bear wins.

[Q] Thanasi Kokkinakis (AUS) vs. [Q] Calvin Hemery (FRA)

Court 2

Evgeny Donskoy (RUS) vs. Aljaz Bedene (SLO)

Dusan Lajovic (SRB) vs. Horacio Zeballos (ARG)

Mikhail Kukushkin (KAZ) vs. Marius Copil (ROU)

Court 8

Thomas Fabbiano (ITA) vs. Nikoloz Basilashvili (GEO)
