Venus Williams has Earned the Right to End Her Career on Her Terms

Former world #1 Venus Williams has won Wimbledon 5 times, the US Open twice, and holds 4 Gold Medals and One Silver Medal along with a slew of majors in doubles. She has been runner-up or better at every slam at least once. Her 1997 US Open runner-up finish took place early in Bill Clinton’s second term as president. Let that sink in for a few minutes.

Losing in the 1st round of the US Open and being 40 means that an end is not far off, but when and how Venus ends her career is her business. She has been a great role model and has fought for equal pay for female players.
