Isner should win today, but his return game will dictate how far he advances

First Round
Jiri Vesely vs. Denis Kudla – This is a good chance for Kudla to get a valuable win.

Rogerio Dutra da Silva vs. Vasek Pospisil 4-6, 3-6, 7-6 (11-9), 4-0 suspended – Sticking with yesterday’s pick, but who knows with this match.

Jack Sock vs. Philipp Petzschner – Not a great day for the USTA even if Kudla wins.

Roger Federer (7) vs. Grega Zemlja – Roger rolls

Milos Raonic (10) vs. Thomas Fabbiano – His serve carries him.

Horacio Zeballos vs. Adrian Mannarino

Grigor Dimitrov (25) vs. Joao Sousa – A loss here from Dimitrov would stymie any momentum he gained from Cincinnati.

Albert Montanes vs. Edouard Roger-Vasselin

Jerzy Janowicz (14) vs. Maximo Gonzalez – If he plays like he did in Cincy, Jerzy could be gone early.  With his draw, Jerzy could reach the semis of a 2nd consecutive major.

Tobias Kamke vs. Steve Johnson

John Isner (13) vs. Filippo Volandri – See Raonic, Milos.

Pablo Andujar vs. Thiemo De Bakker – This should be a close match.

Santiago Giraldo vs. Carlos Berlocq 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6), 2-1 suspended – Sticking with yesterday’s pick because I can’t rightfully switch.

Adrian Ungur vs. Gael Monfils – Who knows?

Julien Benneteau (31) vs. Michal Przysiezny – Tricky player advances

Benjamin Becker vs. Lukas Rosol – Based on Cincinnati, I’ll take Becker who is admirably still out there after his 2006 win over Agassi became a distant memory.

Tommy Haas (12) vs. Paul-Henri Mathieu – Not an easy match, but Haas is the pick.

Sam Querrey (26) vs. Guido Pella – Sam needs this.

Donald Young vs. Martin Klizan

Sergiy Stakhovsky vs. Jeremy Chardy

Lukasz Kubot vs. Jarkko Nieminen

Novak Djokovic (1) vs. Richard Berankis – Novak should win.

Yen-Hsun Lu vs. Daniel Gimeno-Traver

Juan Monaco (28) vs. Florian Mayer – This is a 50-50 match.

Nicolas Almagro (15) vs. Denis Istomin – A minor upset.

Tomas Berdych (5) vs. Paolo Lorenzi – The Czech won’t get bounced.

Philipp Kohlschreiber (22) vs. Collin Altamirano – Variety helps Kohls advance.

Disappointed in Vasek Pospisil. He should’ve won that match in straight sets. It was very reminiscent of his loss to Goffin at Cincy, where in both cases he blew match points. His coach will need to work on mental strength and/or strategy in the key points going forward. Mind you, Vasek’s serve was not working today/yesterday and that’s a key weapon for him. Sigh….

    Meanwhile, COME ON NOLE! 🙂

definitely. sadly, his game doesn’t excite me as much as vasek’s does when it’s on.
