1 Novak Djokovic vs. 9 Stanislas Wawrinka 

If anyone has ever earned a first Grand Slam semifinal appearance, it is Stanislas Warinka,  His opponents in order have been Radek Stepanek, Ivo Karlovic, Marcos Baghdatis, Tomas Berdych and defending champion Andy Murray.  Stan is obviously playing well.  His serve is clicking at the moment, and he is playing with confidence. Beating Berdych and Murray back-to-back while only dropping 1 set has to give him the thought that he could win today.

Novak Djokovic has been the most consistent performer at the US Open from 2007 to present.  The surface meshes with his game.  Nole has played quite well at the US Open and has dropped only one set en route to the semifinal round.  His return of serve pressures everyone.  If Novak’s serve and ground game allow for him to hold comfortably vs. Wawrinka, the pressure shifts to the underdog.
