Masters Miami: March 26, 2014 ATP Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Yesterday I was 7-1 in my picks so I hope to keep the momentum going

Quarterfinal Round

Novak Djokovic (2) vs. Andy Murray (6) – Their first sanctioned meeting since Murray won WImbledon last year.  These two posses the best two-handed backhands on tour.  They are the two best pure returners.  They are two of the best movers (if healthy).  That health question has me leaning toward Novak.  At Indian Wells, I would have picked quickly – Novak in 2.  Murray looked a bit out of sorts and was rusty from an injury.  In Miami, Murray seems refocused.  Still, health questions linger.  I think Nole wins in 2 or 3 close sets.

Roger Federer (5) vs. Kei Nishikori (20) – I got Kei defeating Ferrer correct yesterday.  I won’t be making the same pick today.  Roger is playing as well as he has since the Halle-Wimbledon-Olympic Games-Cincinnati stretch of the 2012 season.  Roger seems healthy, is getting more and more comfortable with his new stick, and he is happy with his coaching situation.  Kei can make this close.  Roger also is playing with house money as he skipped Miami last year.  I think Roger will win in 2 entertaining sets.

Nole-Andy probably 50-50 as some questions linger over Nole lately too! But agree with you on Fed-Kei. 🙂
