Predicted Winners in BOLD

The story of the Williams Sisters is so unique that I don’t think it will be fully appreciated until after both of their careers come to a close.  Fortunately for fans of tennis, they are not retiring anytime soon.

Serena Williams (USA) vs Venus Williams (USA) – In a lot of ways, I think Venus can be seen as the favorite.  She played better at Wimbledon and is not riding a winning streak.  If Serena wins Montreal, I do not expect her to do much in Cincinnati as she will be playing a lot of matches over a 3 week period of time.  Still, Serena has to be favored.  If Serena is to put her French Open and Wimbledon losses behind her before the US Open, she needs to win big matches during the US Open Series.  This is a big match.

It is a risk making this pick as Ekaterina Makarova has a big hard court win in the past 52 weeks over Radwanska

Agnieszka Radwanska (POL) vs Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) – Radwanska eased into the semifinals in impressive fashion against Vika.  Radwanska’s consistency will need to hold up in order for to advance, but I think she will do just that and avenge her 2013 US Open loss.
