Tennis Power Ranking 2015: Number 3
- Novak Djokovic – Novak holds the 1st Grand Slam and the first 2 Masters 1000 events of 2015. I am not saying the race for #1 is over for the year, but Nole has banked 4300 points in 4 events. Novak is carving out a unique legacy for himself having already finished 3 years ranked #1, winning many Masters 1000 crowns, holding 4 World Tour Finals crowns, and owning 8 Majors.
- Andy Murray – Andy played well to reach the finals and had chances to win the first set versus Djokovic in the final. Murray captured the second set, but the third set got away from him. Change since last ranking +1
- Roger Federer – Roger did not do anything wrong, but by not playing Miami he left Murray an opening to pass him. Change since last ranking – 1
- Milos Raonic – The powerful Canadian barely holds onto the 4th slot after losing serve war with John Isner.
- David Ferrer – David payed well in Miami. Change since last ranking +2
- Tomas Berdych – The Big Czech has been quite consistent in 2015, but has yet to build upon his victory over Nadal in Melbourne with another signature win. Change since last ranking +1
- Rafael Nadal – I think Rafa will be fine once he’s gotten a few more weeks of clay court tennis under his belt. Still, this has been his least effective start to a season since 2004. Change since last ranking – 2
- John Isner – I think Isner is over valued at #8, but he did beat Dimitrov, Raonic, and Nishikori consecutively at Miami. Unless he comes to life on European clay, Isner will likely drop out as quickly as he entered this poll. Change since last ranking – not ranked
- Kei Nishikori – Having his serve taking apart by John Isner does not bode well. Change since last ranking – 1
- Stanislas Wawrinka – Stan holds 2 titles in 2015 and pushed Nole to a 5th set at the Australian Open semifinal round. Stan did not show much in California or Florida though. Change since last ranking -1
Biggest Movers – David Ferrer +2 and Rafael Nadal -2
Dropped Out of the Poll – Bernard Tomic – He let Berdych slip the hook.
Entered the Poll – John Isner – The big man has played well since his Davis Cup struggles.
