They’ve been doing this for awhile
Predicted Winners in BOLD
Serena Williams (USA) v Venus Williams (USA) – I think Venus played better than Serena through 3 rounds. Venus has the tools to bother and perhaps beat Serena. The problem is that Serena’s iron will when defeat is an option is entirely underrated. I think Serena will win this match in 2 tight sets. This may be the last Grand Slam clash between the two of them so fans should enjoy this.
Maria Sharapova (RUS) v Zarina Diyas (KAZ) – Sharapova has looked sharp. Things get tougher for everyone once the final 8 arrives, but I think Sharapova is building momentum toward a showdown or two.
Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) v Garbine Muguruza (ESP) – Muguruza is my favorite player on the WTA tour due to her power game, but I keep predicting against her. She will need to hit through Wozniacki and is capable of doing that. However, the Dane is a sound retriever and counter-puncher. I think Wozniacki will elicit enough errors from her less experienced opponent to keep her Wimbledon journey alive.
Lucie Safarova (CZE) v Coco Vandeweghe (USA) – Lucie will need to absorb some big serves, but I think her lefty game and sese of court positioning are superior to Coco’s.
Agnieszka Radwanska (POL) v Jelena Jankovic (SRB) – JJ should have some momentum after coming from a set and a break down to beat Petra Kvitova. These two have some similar traits in their games, but I think JJ enters this match with a little more momentum.
Victoria Azarenka (BLR) v Belinda Bencic (SUI) – This should be an excellent match. I can easily see this being a close 3 set battle. Bencic is young enough not to get too nervous in a situation such as this.
Madison Keys (USA) v [Q] Olga Govortsova (BLR) – Keys will employ the experience she gained in Melbourne and push the final qualifier out of the main draw.
Timea Bacsinszky (SUI) vs Monica Niculescu (ROU) – Swiss power
