[1] Novak Djokovic (SRB) vs [Q] Alexandr Dolgopolov (UKR)

If anyone ever got some good sparring to prepare for playing Alexandr Dolgopolov, Novak Djokovic did earlier this week with his match vs. Benoit Paire.  Bother Paire and Dolgopolov are unpredictiable.  Dolgopolov is a fun player to watch, and I am glad to see him make a deep run at a Masters 1000 event.

Novak Djokovic’s airtight tennis is so good that an unpredictable opponent is unlikely to gain much traction.  Novak serves well, moves exceptionally well, had great ground strokes, and returns as well as anyone in history.  I think Novak may be frustrated at periods in this match, but in no way do I think he will be in danger of losing.

My Prediction: Novak Djokovic d. Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-4, 6-2
