Australian Open 2016: Serena Williams vs. Agnieszka Radwanska Semifinal Prediction

The Main Event: Serena Williams vs. Agnieszka Radwanska

Aga is the #4 seed and won the tour finale last year.  She is on a huge winning streak.  She is also a massive underdog in this event.  The two did stage a classic match at Wimbledon 2012.  I hope this is of similar quality and suspect it will go 3 sets.  Nothing either player does will surprise the other.  Aga has to hope Serena does not pummel her serve.  If Aga can hold with some regularity this match might go three sets.  If Serena can take control of points early, serve big, and keep her error count low, this could be over in less than an hour.

My Prediction: Serena Williams d. Agniezska Radwanska 6-2, 5-7, 6-2

  1. Serena looks to be in great form this tournament and was broken only three times by Camila Giorgi, Margarita Gasparyan, & Maria Sharapova. She has been playing clean matches, from start to end and won all her matches in straight sets. She hasn’t served more than three double faults per match. Her match stats are 38 aces, 9 double faults, 122 winners, and 81 unforced errors. But, Aga has 8 aces, 5 double faults, 90 winners, and 72 errors. While Aga will put up a good fight against Serena, I don’t think she has enough to break Serena’s serve. I predict that Serena will win this match in two sets and the scoreline will be 6-3 6-4.

    1. I agree in principal. I just hope that a 17 match winning streak by Aga means the match is an instant classic. However, I could see Serena win along the line you predicted too. Either way, I think we both expect Serena to be in the finals.
