Novak Djokovic vs. Kei Nishikori
It is a testament to how dominant Novak is that I was wondering what do I even write. Kei Nishikori has an excellent return of serve, moves well, can impose his court positioning on his opponent, and can hit with a lot of pace/precision. Of course, Kei has a chance, but I think his best chance is if the elements are difficult. If it is hot, if there is a lot of humidity, and if it is windy, I think Kei’s chances rise a great deal. If this match is contested simply on tennis terms, Novak is playing so well that such a match always favors him even if he loses from time to time.
My Prediction: Novak Djokovic d. Kei Nishikori 6-4, 6-3
Historical Note – Since 1990 the ATP has recognized 9 events as holding a special importance. The names of these events have shifted from Super 9 to Masters Series to Masters 1000 events. Novak Djokovic is tied for the most titles at these events with Rafael Nadal. Each man has won an astounding 27 of these events. A win today would give Novak sole possession of this distinction.
