Rome 2016: May 10th WTA Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Eugenie Bouchard (CAN) vs. Jelena Jankovic (SRB) – I think JJ wins this match, but I’d prefer to be wrong.

[1] Serena Williams (USA) vs. Anna-Lena Friedsam (GER) – Serena will enter Paris as a bit of an enigma, but a strong showing in Rome may evaporate some of the mystery.

Daria Gavrilova (AUS) vs. Sabine Lisicki (GER) – If the Aussie returns well, I think she wins a tricky match.

[8] Carla Suárez Navarro (ESP) vs. Teliana Pereira (BRA)

[9] Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) vs. Caroline Garcia (FRA) – The veteran from Russia may be dangerous in Paris depending upon her draw and a little luck.

Samantha Stosur (AUS) vs. [Q] Alison Riske (USA) – Riske should be match tough even if Stosur has been playing well as of late.

Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) vs. Jelena Ostapenko (LAT)

Johanna Konta (GBR) vs. [Q] Johanna Larsson (SWE)

[Q] Christina McHale (USA) vs. [WC] Claudia Giovine (ITA) – McHale should be match tough and always gives a superb effort so I think she wins here.

[11] Timea Bacsinszky (SUI) vs. Yanina Wickmayer (BEL)

Timea Babos (HUN) vs. [Q] Kiki Bertens (NED)

Lesia Tsurenko (UKR) vs. [Q] Julia Goerges (GER) – I am placing some faith in qualifiers being match tough in my picks today.

Monica Niculescu (ROU) vs. [Q] Mariana Duque-Mariño (COL) – Romanians are the story of the 2016 clay season?
