Novak Djokovic vs. Andy Murray
This should be a fun match. Djokovic beat Murray to win the title in Madrid. Murray beat Djokovic to win the title in Rome. Last year, Djokovic won a 5 set semifinal thriller over Andy Murray. They are the two top ranked players in the world and met in the Australian Open final earlier this year. On paper, this is as good as it gets even if some in the twittersphere are yearning for 2011. These two have met so many times, I don’t think anything unexpected will be coming from either player. I will get straight to the point.
Why I think Djokovic will Win:
- Novak has generally beaten Murray in their bigger matches
- Novak and Murray do a lot in common, but Novak’s forehand is more solid
- Novak is a more natural mover on clay
- Both players could be considered to be due as Novak is in his 4th Roland Garros final and Murray has not won a major since Wimbledon 2013, but Novak is more due
- History beckons
Disclaimers
- I got the women’s final wrong
- I got Murray’s semifinal wrong vs. Wawrinka
- My dad is picking Murray because Murray won in Rome and Murray has had to overcome a lot of struggles to get to the final
My Prediction
Novak Djokovic d. Andy Murray 6-4, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4
