Wimbledon 2016: Day 4 Ladies’ Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

I will do my best to remember my picks from yesterday in matches underway.  Otherwise, I think disruptions tend to favor underdogs as everything running according to plan and taking place under ideal conditions tends to let tennis alone be the factor leading to victory or defeat.  The more muddled things become shrinks various comparative advantages because things are out of the ordinary.

Eugenie Bouchard (CAN) Johanna Konta (GBR) [16] – Konta in England is a favorite in this match.  If Bouchard can recapture her form from 2014, the result will likely not be what I am predicting.
Jana Cepelova (SVK) Garbine Muguruza (ESP) [2] – Garbine should win unless she has a letdown from her big moment in Paris.
Simona Halep (ROU) [5] Francesca Schiavone (ITA) – Simona needs to be sharp.
Agnieszka Radwanska (POL) [3] Ana Konjuh (CRO) – Aga should win.
Timea Bacsinszky (SUI) [11] Luksika Kumkhum (THA)
Julia Boserup (USA) Belinda Bencic (SUI) [7] – The new Swiss Miss should win.
Annika Beck (GER) Heather Watson (GBR)TO FINISH 3-6 6-0 1-0 – I always stick with my original pick in a match in progress.  If Watson wins, the rain saved her though.
Coco Vandeweghe (USA) [27] Timea Babos (HUN)
Venus Williams (USA) [8] Maria Sakkari (GRE) – The 5-time champion should win this match.
Varvara Lepchenko (USA) Angelique Kerber (GER) [4] – Which Kerber do we see?
Dominika Cibulkova (SVK) [19] Daria Gavrilova (AUS) – This is a great match.  I think the more experienced player wins, but if I had a ticket, I’d spend time watching this match.
Sara Errani (ITA) [20] Alize Cornet (FRA) – An upset?
Sloane Stephens (USA) [18] Shuai Peng (CHN) TO FINISH 6-6 – Sloane was my original pick so I am sticking with her.
Yaroslava Shvedova (KAZ) Elina Svitolina (UKR) [17]
Andrea Petkovic (GER) [32] Elena Vesnina (RUS)
Mona Barthel (GER) Kiki Bertens (NED) [26]
Lara Arruabarrena (ESP) Daria Kasatkina (RUS) [29]
Kirsten Flipkens (BEL) Madison Keys (USA) [9] – I will keep saying that Keys could win this title.
Katerina Siniakova (CZE) Caroline Garcia (FRA) [30]
Mandy Minella (LUX) Anna Tatishvili (USA) TO FINISH 3-1 – Original pick
Lucie Safarova (CZE) [28] Samantha Crawford (USA) – Bullish in Czechs for day 4
Karolina Pliskova (CZE) [15] Misaki Doi (JPN)
Ying-Ying Duan (CHN) Roberta Vinci (ITA) [6] – Vinci’s slice backhand and soft hands at the net can make grass a nightmare for her opponent.
Anett Kontaveit (EST) Barbora Strycova (CZE) [24] TO FINISH 3-2 – Original pick
Jelena Jankovic (SRB) [22] Marina Erakovic (NZL)
Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) Johanna Larsson (SWE) – I love Makarova’s game.

Samantha Stosur (AUS) [14] Sabine Lisicki (GER) – Lisicki and Stosur will serve some bombs.
