Better days for each player?
Predicted Winners in BOLD
3 Former Champions w/ 13 Total Singles Titles in Action on the Ladies Side of the Draw
Serena Williams (USA) [1] v Christina McHale (USA) – Serena will win, but McHale will likely make one set pretty interesting.
Venus Williams (USA) [8] v Daria Kasatkina (RUS) [29] – I am not sure I like Venus playing on back-to-back days after a long match.
Petra Kvitova (CZE) [10] v Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) – I had the hardest time picking this match of any on the ladies’ schedule for day 5. Makarova is cagey. Petra is streaky. If Petra is playing at 2011 or 2014 levels, this predictions looks completely silly. I just am not confident Petra brings her A or even B game to this match.
Simona Halep (ROU) [5] v Kiki Bertens (NED) [26] – Simona probably wins this match, but on grass I am not as sure as I’d like to be.
Tara Moore (GBR) v Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) [13] – Kuznetsova has never been great on grass, but I think she scrapes out a close win.
Carina Witthoeft (GER) v Angelique Kerber (GER) [4] – I have a daughter with a similar name to Witthoeft, but that is no reason to pick her. I think Kerber wins is moving and hustling.
Alize Cornet (FRA) v Madison Keys (USA) [9] – I keep thinking Keys could be playing in the final weekend, but for some reason I like Cornet in this match-up. I changed my mind. Keys wins so long as she can dictate play.
Misaki Doi (JPN) v Anna-Lena Friedsam (GER) – This is a great opportunity for each player, but I think Doi wins.
Sabine Lisicki (GER) v Yaroslava Shvedova (KAZ) – Lisicki loves Wimbledon, and this draw could open up for her.
Marina Erakovic (NZL) v Carla Suarez Navarro (ESP) [12] – I keep doubting CSN on grass, and she keeps winning.
