Predicted Winners in BOLD

Borna Coric (CRO) vs. Ivan Dodig (CRO) H2H – This could be a great match.  I think Coric wins, but Dodig should not be underestimated.

Grigor Dimitrov (BUL) vs. Yuichi Sugita (JPN) H2H – Grigor has to eventually win a match in which he is the favorite right?

[9] John Isner (USA) vs. Dudi Sela (ISR) H2H – Isner did not go as deep in DC as he should have as the number one seed.

[11] Nick Kyrgios (AUS) vs. [WC] Denis Shapovalov (CAN) H2H – This can and should be a lot of fun.  Kyrgios needs to show some fight after his exit from Wimbledon.  If Kyrgios is not sharp, he will lose this match.

Sam Querrey (USA) vs. [WC] Frank Dancevic (CAN)  H2H – Querrey should win, but Frank deserves a ton of credit for still plugging away on tour.  Also, maybe the crowd carries Frank further than one should expect.  I’ve been in the media room with both of these guys, and they are both easy going dudes.

Viktor Troicki (SRB) vs. Kevin Anderson (RSA) H2H – Anderson is due for a solid win, but I am not 100% sure he gets it here.

Gilles Muller (LUX) vs. [PR] Dmitry Tursunov (RUS) H2H – Muller deserves some good luck.

Andrey Kuznetsov (RUS) vs. [Q] Ryan Harrison (USA) H2H – Harrison had a nice showing in DC, and could win this match.  If he is going to rally, this would be the sort of win that could turn his career around for the better.  Still, I wonder how much energy Harrison will have after qualifying in DC, playing a few rounds there, traveling to Toronto, and qualifying in Toronto.

[12] Bernard Tomic (AUS) vs. [Q] Alejandro Gonzalez (COL) H2H – Tomic is a hard guy to predict.  He has the talent to win the match.

[16] Jack Sock (USA) vs. Denis Kudla (USA) H2H – Sock has a few more weapons, but both of these players maximize their talent.

Kyle Edmund (GBR) vs. [WC] Steven Diez (CAN) H2H – Edmund has been carving out a nice year for himself.  I think that continues.

[WC] Peter Polansky (CAN) vs. [Q] Tim Smyczek (USA) H2H – I think Tim wins, but this should be a fun match.

Mikhail Youzhny (RUS) vs. Stéphane Robert (FRA) H2H – If Youzhny can turn back the clock, he wins.  I am just not sure time works that way.
