Rio Olympic Tennis: August 9th Men’s Singles Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

MONACO Juan vs. MURRAY Andy – Murray will be facing a tough fighter in Monaco, but Monaco doesn’t have enough firepower to really bother Murray.

NADAL Rafael vs. SEPPI Andreas – I don’t think it will be as one-sided as Rafa’s first round match, but Rafa should win in straight sets.

CUEVAS Pablo vs. BELLUCCI Thomaz – If this were not the olympic games in Rio, I’d be picking Cuevas.  I think the crowd helps Bellucci a lot in this match.

FERRER David vs. DONSKOY Evgeny – Ferrer should win this match.

PAIRE Benoit vs. FOGNINI Fabio – This could be a crazy match, but I think Fognini wins.

Simon can be tough on slower hard courts

SUGITA Yuichi vs. SIMON Gilles – Simon reaching the round of 16 would put him in an interesting spot likely opposite Rafa.

SELA Dudi vs. GOFFIN David – I love Goffin’s chances in this match.

ELIAS Gastao vs. JOHNSON Steve – Gastao being from Portugal might help him with the crowd.  Much more importantly this court’s speed is not ideal for Johnson’s game.
