Predicted Winners in BOLD
Marcel Granollers (ESP) vs. Novak Djokovic (SRB) [2] – This is a terrible draw for both men. I think Djokovic wins in 3 or 4 sets, but Granollers has round of 16 to quarterfinal potential against a generic draw. The Djokovic-Agassi partnership gets a stiff test out of the gate.
Alexander Zverev (GER) [9]vs. Fernando Verdasco (ESP) – Another terrible draw for both players. Zverev won Rome. Hot Sauce has been a dangerous player for more than a decade. I see Zverev as the slightest of favorites.
Benoit Paire (FRA) vs. Rafael Nadal (ESP) [4] – Rafa should roll, but the French crowd might get rowdy if Paire grabs an early lead.
Paul-Henri Mathieu (FRA) vs. David Goffin (BEL) [10] – Goffin needs to not let this get interesting. He should be able to do that.
Rogerio Dutra Silva (BRA)vs. Mikhail Youzhny (RUS) – If Youzhny were a bit younger, I’d take him, but I think his best days are behind him.
Yuichi Sugita (JPN) vs. Steve Johnson (USA) [25] To Finish 3-6 3-6 7-6(4) 4-2 – I have to stick with my original pick.
Yen-Hsun Lu (TPE)vs. Sergiy Stakhovsky (UKR) – I generally always predict both players incorrectly so this is some sort of nexus of the universe match for me.
Jack Sock (USA) [14] vs. Jiri Vesely (CZE) – I have not been very bullish on men from the US in these picks.
Mischa Zverev (GER) [32] vs. Stefano Napolitano (ITA) – The older Zverev played well enough in Switzerland to warrant some optimism in Paris.
David Ferrer (ESP) [30] vs. Donald Young (USA) – This is an interesting match. Off of clay, I’d be tempted to pick Young. This is on clay.
