[8] David Ferrer (ESP) vs Alexandr Dolgopolov (UKR)

On talent, I think an observer could go either way on this.  When Ferrer was younger, I’d give a talent edge to the Spaniard, but now it is fairly even.  Dolgopolov has every shot in the book, but he uses every shot when more measured tactics might end a point.  Ferrer is a warrior who tracks down balls and pushes his opponent physically.  I don’t think Ferrer will break Dolgopolov down physically, but I do think he will make his opponent hit enough balls that poor shot selection will doom the Ukrainian.
