US Open 2017: September 1st Women’s Singles Predictions

ARTHUR ASHE STADIUM (11 a.m. start)

[13] Petra Kvitova (CZE) vs [18] Caroline Garcia (FRA) – I think Garcia will win this match in 3 sets, but if Petra gets rolling she could be on her way to her 3rd major titles.

[9] Venus Williams (USA) vs Maria Sakkari (GRE) – Venus has a reasonable shot at reaching her 3rd major final of 2017.

[WC] Maria Sharapova (RUS) vs [WC] Sofia Kenin (USA) (late night) – I am not sure what to think about this entire Sharapova situation.

Ashleigh Barty (AUS) vs [PR] Sloane Stephens (USA) – This should be an excellent match.

[3] Garbiñe Muguruza (ESP) vs [31] Magdalena Rybarikova (SVK) – The favorite?

[16] Anastasija Sevastova (LAT) vs. Donna Vekic (CRO)

Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) vs Carla Suárez Navarro (ESP) – Another excellent match

[30] Julia Goerges (GER) vs [Q] Aleksandra Krunic (SRB) – Kruncic won’t need to be playing qualifying matches too much longer, but I think Julia Goerges wins.
