Kyle Edmund (28) vs. Pablo Cuevas
I picked Edmund for a match of the day earlier in the event and it went 5 sets. I am not sure he has to go the distance again or that he will win, but again his match is the one with the least obvious outcome in my view.
Edmund is a super solid player who is surprisingly powerful and capable of dictating play. Pablo Cuevas is a gritty veteran with a lot of experience on clay. If this were on a hard court (indoor or outdoor) or grass court, I think Edmund would likely win in a tough tilt. On clay, I think it will come down to how well Edmund’s offense stands up to unsure footing, hitting an extra ball, and the general uncertainty clay can induce if normal winners come back. I think this goes at least 4 sets with each player presenting problems that the other does not have an obvious solution to. It should be a fun one so tune in to Edmund Cuevas.
