French Open 2020: Men’s Singles Semifinal Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Novak Djokovic vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas – I think Tsitsipas has a chance. He will have to play close to his bes to win, but I think across 3 of 5 sets Djokovic’s return of serve, air tight baseline play, movement, and consistency will all act like gravity and ground Tsitsipas if he is playing well. If Tsitsipas is not playing well, forget about it even being close. My Prediction: Novak Djokovic d. Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4

If we get a Nadal-Djokovic final, Rafa’s backhand may be the key to that match. We should not look ahead given how awful my picks were for the Women’s Singles semifinal round.

Rafael Nadal vs. Diego Schwartzman – Diego Schwartzman has a recent win in Rome vs. Nadal to draw upon and has played Rafa tough on a number of other occasions. Here are some other numbers. Nadal is 98-2 at the French Open. He is 9-1 vs. Schwartzman. I think in a 3 of 5 set format, Rafa would still be in a decent spot even if he lost the first 2 sets. My Prediction: Rafael Nadal d. Diego Schwartzman 6-4, 7-5, 6-1
