Novak Djokovic vs. Stanislas Wawrinka

These two have posted a lot of great matches over the past two years.  Djokovic has an incredibly ability to return serve and go from defense to offense in a single point.  Wawrinka can play old fashioned bullying tennis around the court.  He can at times hit through Novak’s counter-punching game.  At other times, Stan brings out the best in Nole’s movement and shotmaking abilities.  I get the feeling that Stan likes playing against Novak as he feels the match-up is not unfavorable.

Novak won Paris in impressive fashion.  He also bagged a title in Beijing.  Both men looked great on Monday, but Novak has played far better than Stan as of late.  If Stan has shaken off his poor form, expect a classic that could go either way.

My Prediction: Novak Djokovic d. Stanislas Wawrinka 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in the best match of the event to this point.  I am sure Federer and his #1 aspirations would prefer a Wawrinka win, but I think Novak is in a form we have not seen from him since he won Rome.  Even at Wimbledon, Nole went 5 vs. Federer and Cilic and 4 vs. Stepanek and Dimitrov.  Nole seems back to me for whatever that is worth.
