French Open 2016: May 27th Men’s Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

[9] Richard Gasquet (FRA) vs [17] Nick Kyrgios (AUS) – Gasquet humbled Kyrgios at Wimbledon last year.  Has Nick grown?  We shall see.  My head says Gasquet, and my gut says Kyrgios.  Given my physique my gut wins.

[3] Stan Wawrinka (SUI) vs [30] Jérémy Chardy (FRA) – Stan is on a nice run since some patchy play.

[2] Andy Murray (GBR) vs [27] Ivo Karlovic (CRO) – Murray has made life difficult for himself in Paris.  He should win this match.

[16] Gilles Simon (FRA) vs [22] Viktor Troicki (SRB) – Gilles came back from near elimination.  I think he wins another physical match.

[8] Milos Raonic (CAN)  vs. [LL] Andrej Martin (SVK) – Milos, if healthy, could be in the final 8 or final 4 in Paris.

[5] Kei Nishikori (JPN) vs. Fernando Verdasco (ESP) – Kei has been in great form since Miami started.  I think he should win, but Verdasco can make life difficult with his lefty shot-making.

[15] John Isner (USA) vs. Teymuraz Gabashvili (RUS) – Isner into the round of 16 off of US soil and on clay?  I think he manages to do just that.

[23] Jack Sock (USA) vs. Albert Ramos-Vinolas (ESP) – Sock was saved by darkness in the first round.  I am not sure he can go the distance so he better get out in front.

  1. Gasquet and Kyrgios…two guys that can make you pull your hair out because they’re so talented and so inconsistent…LOL

Agreed – Gasquet seems like he is making a bit of a later career push toward some consistency, but yes they are both maddening.
