French Open 2016: May 28th Women’s Predictions

Predicted Winners in Bold

Pauline Parmentier (FRA) vs. Timea Bacsinszky (SUI) [8] – 8th seeds are supposed to beat unseeded players right?  Still this seems like a 50-50 match.

Serena Williams (USA) [1] vs. Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) [26] – This should be a fun match and a good test for Serena.  If Serena isn’t hampered by too many errors she should win.

Venus Williams (USA) [9] vs. Alize Cornet (FRA) – This is a mystery.  Will Cornet be bothered by any of the controversy or feed off of it?  Venus has looked great, but clay and her health is always a question mark.  So I have no idea, but I think Cornet finds a way to advance.

Monica Puig (PUR) vs. Madison Keys (USA) [15] – These are two of my favorite players so I hope for a good match.  I think Keys is playing too well to lose here.

Elina Svitolina (UKR) [18] vs.Ana Ivanovic (SRB) [14] – Svitolina is on her way.  Ivanovic seems like she is finding her form again.  I think youth tends to win out, but this could be excellent.

Kiki Bertens (NED) vs.Daria Kasatkina (RUS) [29] – Bestens has played well prior to Roland Garros in singles and doubles and continues to do so.  I hope she has not overplayed.

Carla Suarez Navarro (ESP) [12] vs. Dominika Cibulkova (SVK) [22] – Clay makes me think this could be a bad pick, but on every other surface I would take Cibulkova and think that means something.

Yulia Putintseva (KAZ) vs.Karin Knapp (ITA) – Knapp has such a golden opportunity in Paris and can take it at least one step further.
