Johanna Konta (GBR) [6] v Simona Halep (ROU) [2] – My gut says Halep wins this match and maybe this tournament. Konta is 2-0 head-to-head vs. Halep and has a home court edge. I think the odds favor Halep.
Garbine Muguruza (ESP) [14] v Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) [7] – The 2015 runner-up will have her hands full with a talented and experienced veteran.
Magdalena Rybarikova (SVK) v Coco Vandeweghe (USA) [24] – Coco has the tools to dictate play and dominate multiple matches.
