Masters 1000 – Montreal 2017: Quarterfinal Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Diego Schwartzman (ARG) vs. Robin Haase (NED) H2H – Haase has a 4-0 head-t0-head record over Schwartzman, and that seems to be a good place to start when predicting this match.

[2] Roger Federer (SUI) vs. [12] Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP) H2H – So long as Federer avoids a war of attrition, I think he wins this match.  RBA is a tough player who will make Federer work, but if Federer dictates play without too many errors, he should win.

[WC] Denis Shapovalov (CAN) vs. Adrian Mannarino (FRA) – My gut says that Shapovalov is due for an emotional letdown due to a good upset over JMDP and an electric 3rd set tiebreak win over Rafael Nadal.  Still, at 18 years of age and with a partisan crowd in his corner, I think Denis Shapovalov will find a way to advance versus a determined opponent.

[4] Alexander Zverev (GER) vs. Kevin Anderson (RSA) – What the heck?  I’ll go with a youth movement in Montreal and a repeat of their DC match.
