Roger Federer vs. Alexander Zverev
Roger Federer leads their head-to-head series 2-1. They split matches in 2016 with Federer winning on clay, and Zverev winning on grass. Federer won this year on grass. None of these matches took place on a hard court so I am not sure how much any of these matches mean for tomorrow’s final.
Federer is in his 3rd Masters 1000 final of 2017 while Zverev is in his 2nd. Federer won his two previous events, but they were each on grass. Zverev won last week on a hard court in Washington, DC. That might bode well for the 20-year-old as I doubt his legs are heavy despite two weeks of wins. I think Zverev can win this match due to his movement, his return of serve, and his easy power. I think Federer will win this match because he can hold his own in rallies, but will also hit various angles and sneak into the net at times. By playing multiple zones on the court, Federer can likely find one or two that work given what Zverev has that day. This will lead to an eventual turn of momentum toward Federer.
My Prediction: Roger Federer d. Alexander Zverev 7-6, 6-4
