[5] Elina Svitolina (UKR) vs [6] Caroline Wozniacki (DEN)

 This match should be closely contested.  Caroline Wozniacki is an excellent athlete who sometimes lacks enough aggression to grab big wins.  Svitolina has a serve that can allow her to dictate play early in points.  That to me will be the difference in this match.  Svitolina can possibly force the issue enough to beat Wozniacki, but that will depend on her error count.  Both players have had good 2017 campaigns and face a wide open US Open.  A win here could propel either toward a big hardcourt summer.

My Prediction: Elina Svitolina d. Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 6-3
