Predicted Winners in BOLD
Renzo Olivo (ARG) vs. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA) [12] To Finish 7-5 6-4 6-7(6) 5-4 – I have to stick with my original pick, but Tsonga is close to the exit.
Robin Haase (NED) vs. Rafael Nadal (ESP) [4] – Rafa rolls
Lucas Pouille (FRA) [16] vs. Thomaz Bellucci (BRA) – This could be fun, but Bellucci is too up and down to win 3 of 5 sets in my view.
Dominic Thiem (AUT) [6] vs. Simone Bolelli (ITA) – This could be a test for Thiem.
Joao Sousa (POR) vs. Novak Djokovic (SRB) [2] – Novak faces yet another tough clay court player. Not a great draw, but it could pay dividends in week 2.
Tommy Robredo (ESP) vs. Grigor Dimitrov (BUL) [11] – At this stage of each man’s career, Dimitrov should win, but Robredo will make him earn it.
Milos Raonic (CAN) [5] vs. Rogerio Dutra Silva (BRA) – Can Raonic hit through the dirt?
Sergiy Stakhovsky (UKR) vs. David Goffin (BEL) [10] – A fun match
Benjamin Bonzi (FRA) vs. Albert Ramos-Vinolas (ESP) [19] – ARV has had a great clay season.
Ivo Karlovic (CRO) [23] vs. Horacio Zeballos (ARG) – If Zeballos takes care of his own serve, I think he pulls an upset (of a sort).
Borna Coric (CRO) vs. Steve Johnson (USA) [25] – This could go 5.
Pablo Carreno Busta (ESP) [20] vs. Taro Daniel (JPN) – Vamanos
Stefano Napolitano (ITA) vs. Diego Schwartzman (ARG)
Nikoloz Basilashvili (GEO) vs. Viktor Troicki (SRB)
Mikhail Kukushkin (KAZ) vs. Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP) [17] – RBA is a a rugged player who can do some damage.
Marco Trungelliti (ARG) vs. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez (ESP) – Another big day for Spain?
what about Bedene & Vesely, could be interesting too~
Sad that Escobedo didn’t win his first round match, but another young player who is fun to watch is Pablo Carreno Busta! I think he’ll make it to week two.
Yeah, there is some hope for Escobedo in the future.
